anyway possible to sex a week old chick? i can post any pictures if you would like to give it a shot. :-D! any help is greatly appreciated!

OMG! Post pics!! what breed are you wanting to sex? You can tell with RIRS because the pullets will have a black stripe going down their heads. Other breeds you can tell by the wing feathers. females will have more rounded ends to their feathers, will the roo's will have pointy ones. Our babies are 2 weeks old, and I think I have have an idea of whats whats, some of them are developing larger combs. The females right now don't have one to show for. You should post pics! I'll help, plus, you can never tire of baby pic's Hope this helps.

Actually the feathers on the birds are reversed from what Gonzo says. It also only works for leghorns and one or two other breeds. Silkies you have to wait till they grow up there is just no choice on that one. The cochin is the same as the silky. You best bet will be comb or if you hear a starting crowing.

are you sure? that's how are jap. bantams were sexed.?
