Hi my name is 13chooks. I just joind this morning. I live in Laidley, Queensland, Australia. In regards to sexing chooks. Heres a little tip that my son tried after hearing it from our neighbour. He said if you hold birds around the torso and hold them upside down a hen will hold her legs in and a rooster will kick his out, He tried this with all our birds and guess what. The newly purchased silkie (1 of 3) has turned out to be a rooster. I dont know if this an accurate way of telling but all my hens held their legs in and only the one had legs kicked out. I have 7 australorps, 3 leghorns, 3 silkies. Their pen in 6m x 4m. They are also allowed to freerange sometimes.
