I’ve been asking about these guys since they were 4 weeks old and still am not sure on sex of one of them. I’ll keep updating with new photos!

So I have this 11wk old guy, who’s definitely a bantam mottled cochin cockerel. First two photos:

Then I have this one who feathered out much faster than the cockerel. About same in size as the cockerel too. They’re from the same hatch. I still can’t decide if this is a slow developing cockerel or actually a pullet. You can see her feathers have a green tinge to them, but she’s also so old to have no comb?! Here he/she is:

Second bird appears to be a pullet. 'Green tinge' is not limited to cockerels/roosters. Black pullets/hens will also have a green or purple tinge to their feathers.

Edited to add: Put on your gloves. your hand looks cold. :D
LOL, right! It’s so cold here! I live at 10,500ft in the mountains. My chickens have been so tough too!

Thank you! This is my first time with chickies, especially one this black. Good to know about the feather coloring. I think it’s a pullet too. :)

This is the age that everyone thought they were both cockerels. I thought so kind of too. Pullet has more black on face.
