Sexing ducks

I was told you can sex by sound. They drakes are quieter than the girls. The girls need a louder voice to talk to her babies. That is what a guy who sells them all the time told me. I finally got ducks this year and pretty much this is correct but our head drake is louder than the others. Hope this helps

It will take a while for the voice thing to even be detectable. Their voice has to stop peeping and start quacking. The hens will have a sharp loud Ackkk, Ackk, Ackk, Ack. The males have a throaty, whispery, raspy Waa, Waa, Waa, Waa. People say they have a hard time knowing what to listen for. Believe me, it will become obvious. But by the time the voice change happens, you could just watch for curly boy feathers on the tail. Or you could just gets ducks that are sexually dimorphic. Like Mallards or Rouens.

I hold the young duckling and tap it on the head several times. I continue until the duck either quacks(female) or makes a hissing sound(male). An old guy told me this and it works..! Just don't tap too hard....hold them under one arm and use 3 fingers to tap on their heads.....no duck abuse please.!
