Looks like a pullet so far, how's it looking now?Need help my baby hatched 2/17/2020 wondering if it's a rooster or hen?!
A bit early to say.Hello all! Wondering thoughts of sex for this 5 week EE, Pidgey. It's comb started getting a little pinker so it's making me question. I also saw some knowledgeable folks comment about dark red near the shoulders.
At 7 or 8 weeks, I'm pretty good at determining sex in most chicks I've had to figure out. So I was looking for older pullets but due to the quarantine, chicks everywhere are sold out. Found a farm that had some 4 week olds that he'd paid extra for pullets so even though sexing at that age is difficult, I took my chances as they were better than most. I posted pics of them elsewhere in here and FB for info on how they might turn out and a woman responded that one was a boy. Ugh. Now at first glance, both chicks appear very similar....distribution of pattern, degree of feathering, length of wings/tail feathers, etc. The only differences that stand out is one is a little larger...as is its comb. But when dealing with hybrids, I'd expect that. So I took both out and really scrutinized them and darn it, one does appear to be a cockerel. The legs are thicker, the head does seem more masculine and as small as the comb is, it is larger/darker. And he has teensy wattles. So posting pics here....first of them both and then 2 combshots of each. Thoughts?
