Is it possible to sex the eggs? I watched a programme on fishing cormorants and they said they sexed the eggs before they put the eggs in an incubator. It was all down to the shape of the egg. The pointy ones were male and the more rounded ones were hens, or possibly the other way around!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did try it a few times but really needed to do a lot more research or watch the priogramme again. Anyone with any thoughts?

I dont think its possible that way

So pleased someone else has heard something. Would really be worth doing a study amongst all of us hatching eggs.

I would dearly love to hatch out only hens as I want layers not roosters. I can not kill my chickens so I have an absolute over run of unwanted roosters. I would then only eat male eggs.

If it were possible to sex eggs, then I'm sure the hatcheries would be doing that rather than sexing the chicks after hatch.

That was my thoughts but imagine if you really can do it how many eggs, incubation space and unnecessary culling could be prevented. Worth looking into.

I don't understand how you think this is possible. Some hens lay pointier eggs than other hens. My RSL lays an egg that is the exact same shape every day (rounded and almost difficult to tell which side is up!) I have hatched out two boys and 3 girls from identical eggs. Doesn't work ;)
