I'm going to be very devastated if this method is correct. I just picked up 16 eggs from a breeder and only about 4 were roundish. I really hope I have more females than that.

I think after the 2 incubators hatch here in the next few weeks Im going to try only the round end eggs AND Im gonna hold the temp. down as low as possible to see what I get. My birds lay both round and pointy and hatch best for me at 102* dry till lockdown. This is a fun experiment!!! I am also feeding my 7month old girls cayenne pepper just started today!!! I love hearing the "myths"...yall know they got started somehow!!!!

If they hatch best at 102 your thermostat and thermometers are off.

Please, any of you who are noting egg shape and setting accordingly, keep detailed records, and post your results!!!

But, of course it will!!! My stats have gone from 40% pullets to 60% pullets with egg shape selection.

That's one of the things I love about BYC, nobody tries to talk me out of getting/hatching more birds [IMG]

I can't wait to buy an incabater and try this... I think I will sort eggs by the bird that lays them then seperate for the slight differences of space from tip to width!!!! Hopefully sooner than later.

That's OK. If you know it is off by 2 degrees or so, then that works for you.
