So this will be our first flock ever and we got some straight run chicks so we're on the lookout for roosters. They aren't allowed in our city and we'd like to re-home any we’ve got, if possible.

To start off, we have a mixed breed chick. We only have one and we were told it is about a month old. The chick is a cross between a Red Frizzle Rooster (breed unknown) and a Barred Rock Hen. Despite being our biggest and possibly oldest chick, it has no tail feathers and is pretty fluffy.

Next I have two bantam frizzle chicks (possibly cochins). I was told that they were two weeks when I got them and that would make them 3 weeks now. However, there are some obvious differences in their combs and how full their feathers are. The small combed chick is pretty mangy looking and the larger combed chick is still quite fluffy. Big comb might also be getting some pink at the base of that comb (and maybe a wattle?).

Might be too soon to say for sure but I thought I’d check just in case (especially since I don’t know how old they are for sure).

Since the barred Rock was the mother, they are sexlinked. Only the boys will be barred. The frizzle Cochin in the last picture is a boy.

I knew I should have gone with my instinct! I looked at that white frizzle chick and thought 'that one is probably a boy' but a I bought it anyway hoping it wouldn't be true... I may post pictures of the black one I have, it's always had a larger comb than the other two but is the same size/age. It's probably a boy... =[

Good to know about the Barred Rock mixes though. I'll pass that info onto the breeder so she'll know for the future.

Thanks for your help!

EDIT:
Here is the black one. Also a baby rooster?
Was very uncooperative for photos.
