Sexing Gold laced Wyandotte

I have a set of 5 week old gold laced wyandottes. They were supposed to be pullets, but I'm now I'm wondering- that's a lot of red. Thoughts on this one? It's not as sassy as my cockerels who are the same age.

its a cockerel but its either not an wyandotte or poorly bred.

I ha e brlw and those combs don't look thw same. Wyandotte normally have pea combs. I maybe wrong about the gold laced since I don't have that breed. But my brlw combs look different.

Where did u get them.

5 weeks thats a pullet comb would be way bigger if it was a cockerel

Wyandottes are supposed to have rose combs.
That chick has a single comb.

Single combs are caused by a recessive gene, so it is possible for two Wyandottes with rose combs to produce a chick with a single comb.

Don't try to enter that bird in a poultry show, or use it to breed good quality Wyandottes, but otherwise the comb type should not cause any problems.

Thanks! I did know that. S/he's a Tractor Supply acquisition, so I wasn't too shocked when my chicks came out a little weird. I'm just looking for some eggs, so I'm not too stressed about it. Any thoughts on the sex? (These are my first wyandottes. I'm wondering if it's just the single comb that's making me think roo.)

Yeah... Tractor Supply- I didn't really expect exceptionally bred chickens. It's the sweetest one I've got- I'll be sorry to give him an eviction notice. (I live in the city).
