just wondering if it is possible the tell the gender in chicks? i will be getting some next week...

I'm no expert, but the breeder I got mine from only sells them straight run as he says they can't be sexed.

Far as I know, most people have a hard enough time telling the sexes of the adult birds and you only know you have a female when you hear the "buck wheat" sound that only the females make.

^ agreed. I find them impossible to sex until they start calling. Males have one syllable, females have the 2 syllable "buck-wheat" call.

Agree that it is near impossible to sex keets. Unlike my quail brown which I can barely tell due to slight color variations of the sexes, the guinea keets still have me scratching my head. I actually have an adult pied that until recently I was sure was a male until it met me at the door and "buckwheat-ed". She has very masculine traits otherwise.

ok, thanks- been reading on them, so after they get about 2 months old they can free range? my chickens won't be free ranging, but i am hoping the guineas will help against snakes and ticks-
