Sexing my Dominique

Okay so it’s been several weeks so I’m reposting pics of my Dominique to see if anyone has any thoughts on gender. I’m getting mixed reviews from friends.

It is about 9-10 weeks old. I’m putting pics of feathers and the entire chicken. If you need more pics I can get them!! I’ll also put pics of my heritage RIR chicks for funsies. They are about 4 weeks old.

He's definitely a cockerel and not a Dominique. Dominiques have rose combs and he has a pea comb. He's simply a mixed breed. Your Rhode Island Red chicks aren't heritage lines. Their color is already much too light. They're hatchery Rhode Island Reds. I have raised true, heritage Rhode Island Red chicks and even at this age rich, mahogany feathers will be emerging! Here's an example!

Here are better pictures in better lighting. I got them from a local farm and saw the parents on site as well.

And how can you tell the other one is a cockarel? Also they originally told us it was a barred rock but that doesn’t match comb type either.

He has cockerel-specific feathering on his shoulders and a very large and red pea comb for his age. I still do not think they're heritage. Likely someone is just throwing the term around. Do you have pictures of the parents? They're almost black at first glance and reddish in bright sun. They're not chestnut in the slightest, except perhaps in the late summer after being sunbleached. The parents should have the body type of a brick and a rectangle side profile shape. Did they mention what line they are? I really do not think these are heritage. See the difference in color?

No they didn’t say what line. The parents were very dark though.

I have a 5-week old Dominique. She started to develop some red coloring in the comb. Can anyone tell already if this is a pullet or cockerel?
She also started making what seem like silent crows, but I read in another post that can be normal sometimes in pullets…
Any thoughts? I am new to raising chickens.
