This is one of my americaunas - about 17 weeks. I have 2 that looks similar, tho the other is darker. Same size, same comb, etc. I'm thinking pullets?

I have 3 smaller chicks too, 1 americauna, 2 RIRs. I'm thinking 1 rir is a roo bc its bigger but not sure. They about 8 weeks. The americauna I'm thinking roo as well based on what ive read here. Any ideas?

Hmm that's going to be a tricky one. That partridge pattern is usually female but there's a lot of red in it too and that could be an indication of it being male.
Can you post a closer up picture like a face shot and a body shot?

I got a head shot. Body shot was too hard right now bc they got super skittish and kept running. Daughter caught him for the head shot. Didnt want to stress him anymore.

Keep your fingers crossed, it has a tiny single comb so I think ...Girl! :D

Oh by the way, my Mother has 2 single comb EE hens and both lay brown eggs, so the probability is good that she won't lay colored eggs. I think I remember reading that the gene that determines egg color is linked to the gene for Pea comb.

Oh I hope so! We have 7 big chickens and 2 turned out to be roosters. Then these 3 and I was thinking 1 red roo and ee roo. We keep losing out on hens! Lol! I'm sad to think both reds are roos. Bummer. Lots of soup I guess down the line. (We wanted about 10 hens and a roo, so far we have 5 maybe 6 females and maybe 4 roos! Gonna have to get more females - maybe sex linksto avoid this issue! Lol

Yeah, I'd avoid more EEs because the hatcheries seem to goof on sexing those the most. I really like the Red Sex Links for laying abilities. My Wyandotte crosses have the sweetest personalities. I don't have a whole lot of experience with the other breeds though. I am getting 25 assorted pullets from Meyer Hatchery, I hope I get some variety :)
