My first attmept at hatching quail has resulted in 4 nice healthy quail, theyare now 5 weeks old. But i am now suspecting that i have 4 boys! Here are their pics:
This is my only brown, Boy i'm sure as has a rusty chest, this little guy has been trying to crow since he was 2 weeks old i think! This boy had lots of problems as a chick, with eye infections etc, so i'm thinking not breeding material! But quite fond of the little fighter. He also ahs a slight curl to some of his feathers!)
This is my golden: (I don't see spots, so boy?)
My Range Tux: I think this guys has also been trying to crow (ie standing on tippy toes and cheeping loudly with neck straight up?)
My only jumbo (range): (Very skittish and shy)
I seriously get the feeling i have 4 boys! Which is ok as i just hatched 9 new ones today! However of these 4 who would you keep. I want 1 male and maybe 4 females as breeding stock and the others are going to freezer camp. Who would you choose? I think if these are boys i'll keep one and then he will be completely unrelated to other batch hatched today.
