Sexing my new salmon favorelle.

Where I am friends have quite a few, though they could no longer source me any, unfortunately.
They are definitely not the most common of backyard birds though.
I love their fluffy feet/beards and tinted eggs!

I have read that they were the most pet friendly birds, sounds like very gentle birds. But since there gene pool is diminishing they might be gone sooner than expected.

yours is for sure a female!

Here is an SF MALE at 3 weeks. They have black feathers and comb is more prominent and red than a female would be. Currently my SF male is 14 weeks old now, but I don’t have a recent pic. We have had females in the past and they don’t have any black feathers, and look quite different from a male.

Are there a lot of people still keeping this breed? Sorry to hijack the post. The web indicates there endangered.
I've seen and read that in a lot of places also. Which is weird to me. Every hatchery sells them and a bunch of locals where I live sell them also.
