Hi all, I have the age old question of boy or girl.
I know that one of them is a boy because the khaki cambell in with them is laying fertile eggs.
But with the pekins I'm not sure what gender they are. Other than the curled tail feather on the one on the left they're exactly the same to me. Same coloured beak and feet and the noise they're making is the same.

The curled feather means male.

Also their quack is different, male vs female. So the other one either hasn’t got its drake feather yet or it’s quack yet. How old are they?

The one without the curly tail is about 11 months old and the one with the curly tail is 9 months old.

At this point you should be able to tell by their voices. If they sound the same, they are both males.
So it's possible for a male to not have a curly tail? The one without the curl is older. I'm just curious sexing my runners and khakis is easy they've all had the quacks and tail feathers go together

Sometimes they don't grow in, and they don't always have them year-round. The curl can be accidently plucked out or lost during a molt and it can take several months for the curl to grow back which is why it shouldn't be your only bases for gender. At this age, a female would have a very distinctive voice, and I'd expect her to be laying by now.

Okay. Thank you. I initially thought they were both boys based on the sounds they made and then the younger one got his tail curl and that made me second guess myself

The one on the left has a drake curled feather infront of his tail. He is your drake.
