Hello all.
I have tried to find out how to sex my baby polish but found alot of it useful just not for me.
I have a hen and a cockerel both with wattles, both are the same size the other hen is older and smaller, now I have 5 black babies hatched out a week ago, could someone please help me with what to look out for.
We were told bandit was a girl, "She" started growing a wattle same as smokey but then "he" started crowing and that's when the male behaviour started.
I don't want to have to wait until 6 months as we need to start mixing them with the others in a couple months.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou in advances

I’m afraid with polish that young it’s not possible to tell until they have grown. There is vent sexing but this takes many years of practice to know and can if done wrong injure the chick. Many large hatcheries use this method but only a few hours after hatch. It’s not something I would attempt as I don’t have the know how or experience.

You can hazard a guess with how round the crest looks but this is in no way a tell tale sign.
From all my years of keeping & hatching polish I’ve no 100% way of telling for sure. Plus I’ve been caught out a few times with an under the radar boy!

Good luck with your cute little fluff balls!

When pressed, bandit has a small bulge in his private area which smokey and chickadee don't have.
Would this be vent sexing?
We now have 6 of these angels and need to know if they will be ok together long term.
It looks like 2 of them are boys, could be wrong they are a little dominant with the others and the quails, protective and pecking mainly.
Buttons put them in their place though

I think you're going to have to wait a little but until they are older. Its really hard to tell on Polish chickens, especially young ones at that age! Come back in a couple months and we can help you! Good luck!:thumbsup
You're chicks are GORGEOUS! I love there cute little fluffy bodies!:love:love
