Sexing Silkies! Any Ideas???

I think vent sexing a bantam can cause death if done improperly. So, most us just use the same method. If it crows its a roo and if it lays an egg it's hen. I wish there was a way to sex them that wouldn't harm them. If you have hatchery quality, they do not take as long to sex. If you have Breeder or Show Quality then it will take up to 4+ months to sex them. I have even heard of some showing a Silkie as a pullet and winning, and then later on it was crowing! So, some of them are just really hard to sex.

As you know, Silkies are notoriously difficult to sex, and they mature later than most other breeds. I "guess" the sex by the comb, and I'm right about 50% of the time. Thin/narrow comb = female, broader comb = male.

i wing sex them and ive been 100% and especially silkies... when there just born you can tell
