Hey, all
I have 10 seven-week-old Welsh Harlequins that I thought I'd know the gender of by now. There's definite quacking, but they stay bunched up, so it's often hard to tell who's making the noise. One of them has had a yellow bill for many weeks, so I assumed it was a drake. But most of his feathering looks like those I suspect are female. Only one is getting dark feathers on the head (it's pretty dark overall).
I've read about the back feathers being "scalloped" on the drakes and more lined on the hens, but I'm not sure I'm looking at it properly. Other than the one that's clearly darker, I'm not sure I see enough variation to know what I've got.
Nine of them.look very similar, but a couple of those have darker heads.
If anyone has pics obviously contrasting hens & drakes, thst would be great ... or even some advice on what to look for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
