Is it possible to sex chicks the first couple days they are born

Yes, by vent sexing. Very difficult and takes years to master.
Otherwise some pullets have fast feathering genes and cockerels have slow genes so I have been sexing at day old by marking those with 2 lengths of feathers on the primaries as pullets and 1 length as cockerels and I've been pretty close. I'm not saying it is extremely reliable.

Some breeds have color characteristics that can be used to sex chicks. I got several barred rock chicks from TSC and did my best to use the sexing techniques, but I'm afraid I have several boys (straight run at this time of year isn't good odds). They are mostly fast feathering males with two chicks feathering slowly looking like females... not what I expected. I'm waiting on more feathering before making final decisions about keepers.
