Sexlink, Comet, Star Contest

I used to have a rescued red sex link. Her beak was also clipped! The best thing about that is when she decided to give you chicken kisses, it didn't hurt and make you bleed!

She was my absolutely favorite. More like a dog then a chicken. She passed away suddenly about 2 mo. ago. I miss her dearly.

My very first two came from a local egg farm and were debeaked. They were the sweetest birds and I've rarely been without a red star since then. Rosie used to hop up on my husband when he was working in the yard. They were very much like dogs. Because of those two great birds I fell in love with chickens.

Name: Peepville Chicks
Breed: Golden Sex link (golden comets)
Color: Gold/white
Age: 17 weeks
Gender: hens

I adore my golden comets (RIR red x RIR white) hatched May 15, 2008 and I've had them since they were 12 hours old. They're 18 weeks now and laying. They were $1.75 each and the best investment I've made in years. By that I include egg production but the other side is their temperament.

'Redwing' was the first to produce an egg at the age of 16 weeks, 3 days and all 12 are laying daily. They are so friendly, like to be poetted on my lap and will ride my shoulders to hunt spiders, and cluster for back rubs or to accept treats. Oh and they tapdance if you sing to them, especially 'Ruby'. They like cucumbers and pumpkin in addition to layer pellets.

I'm glad this thread was started- weeing other golden comets is like peeking into my own barn- they are lovely birds.

Name: Cinnamon (How original?)
Breed: Golden Comet
Color: Red/White
Age: 10 Weeks
Gender: Pullet

I hatched her in the incubator, I bought 18 Golden Comet eggs and two hatched. Cinnamon is one, her sister is alot bigger, but Cinnamon is as sweet as candy, she likes to be carried, and rides around on my other pets all the time. She is older now.
