i love broodies! or if they mate you could just put them in an incubator if you have one. or make your own. i know that any dominique or barred rock with any rooster that is not bearded or white can become a BSL
Sadly I don't have an incubator and i would rather let a broody do all the work! Hubby doesn't want me brooding anymore babies in the house either
I really really really wanted a Barred Rock and that's what I thought i was getting from Orcheln but when i got home I looked at all my baby chicks and i said HAH that isn't a single comb!!!! Then I did a little research and learned a bit about the Dominique and now I'm happy to have her. I wanted a Barred Rock to make sex links with my cockerel but it will work just the same with Fiji (my dominique).
I don't have a broody but I would hatch them myself in the incubator even if I did. I just love hatching.
I bought some red sex link hatching eggs off ebay afew days ago and they just arrived today. I bought 10 and received 13. So the eggs are resting now to set tomorrow.
So these are first generation of a RIR Rooster to White Plymouth Rock Hen. I will be very happy to be able to sex the chicks at hatching with the girls being rusty red color. Or so it said in the auction description. The eggs themselves are a store bought light brown egg color and my hoped for future hens should be great layers.

Its Barred not bearded, a barred rooster doesnt produce sexlinks, whether he is bearded or not. And the hen can be any barred/cuckoo breed, not just a Dominique or Barred Rock
