Sex-Links really pique my interest for some reason. The possibilities are endless!
Could you make purebred Ameraucana sexlinks by using a Wheaten, Buff, or blue Ameraucana roo over silver duckwing hens? (Or would they magically become EE's?!)
I love the sex-linked Olive Egger ideas, various imaginative sex-linked EEs. Maybe a Russian Orloff roo over a Silver Duckwing Am for some spangled, bearded EE sexlinks? Or a Polish over the Silver Duckwing hen for a crested one EE...or a Brabanter for a spangled, bearded AND crested EE with light blue eggs! Or try them with a Silkie for beards, crests and general cute factor and some little blue eggs.
Hmm, I need some Silver Duckwing Ameraucanas.
I like the idea of purebred sexlinks like the Wyandottes. Suppose you could also do it with Cochins, Marans, Plymouth Rocks, Brahmas, Sussex, Leghorn, etc. The colors would possibly be weird in some combinations, but as long as they weren't being sold as breeder stock, strictly ornamental purebred layers, it would be an awesome boost for the home hatchery.
Are Barred Hollands the only barred white egg layers? They would be nice to mix with a pure Ameraucana roo for some pretty light blue egg-layers, too!
