Dang it!! I have been watching for 2 weeks and waiting and I had to run an errand and missed it!

where are the babies? Why aren't they with the mother goat?

thanks for that. yes, 3 of my does are milk does. we do not allow them to bond with their mothers, or nurse from their mother. we use goats milk on a day to day basis. next year we will have more milk does that will not get to keep their babies either. we have 2 more milk does to kid, one that is with in the next 2 weeks and the other is not due for a few months.
my nigerians are allowed to raise their kids, as is my other doe tink.

They don't even get the colostrum from the mom?

they did get colostrum. we milked the mom, and gave it to them in a bottle. they will continue getting moms milk for the next 3 days, then they will be switched to cows milk.
we have done this many many times. and they will be ok, i have pics uploaded and illl be posting them in a little while

aww they are so cute! I bet they get to be real pets being bottle fed that way. Thanks for sharing those pics. I had baby goats about 20 yrs ago and I miss it. Dh doesn't like goats now so I can only get my baby goat fix this way. Do you ever put your milk goat babies on your nigerians or on Tink? I knew a guy that would go buy bucket calves cheap and put them on his mama goats to nurse.

we havent done that yet no, but maybe someday.

thats another plus , since we are keeping these does and they will be bred for future milkers, bottle feeding them will make them super friendly
