Shadows on the Dawn *A Warrior Cat RP*

Cloudfall's jaw dropped. "Y-Yes of course," she stammered. I must be the youngest deputy in history! What will the other cats at the Gathering think? What will my own Clan think? As dreamlike as this felt, she was honored beyond words that Sparrowstar saw such promise in her. Still in a daze, she padded up to the base of the rock and turned to adress the Clan. "I am honored to accept the position as Clan deputy," she said honestly. "I never expected to earn this, especially so soon, but I swear I will do everything in my power to serve my Clan until my last breath. Thank you, Sparrowstar. And thank you, Thornblaze, for serving us for so well for so long." She then began chanting his name, as all did when someone was to be honored. Soon others began to join her. "Thornblaze! Thornblaze!"
Sparrowstar nodded to her and mewed, "I am honored that you are willing to serve with me. I know that Thornblaze has served for a long time. Through one of my nine lives. I respect you, Cloudfall. You have shown great promise since kithood. Cloudfall! Cloudfall! Cloudfall!" The chant rang through the clearing and he looked at each cat individually.

Cloudfall felt pride flow through her as her Clanmates praised her. She was thrilled to be deputy, but she also felt the weight of responsibility as clearly as if someone had placed it on her shoulders. She knew it wouldn't be easy. But I was chosen for a reason. She thought. A reason is not nothing. Yes, this will be difficult, but Sparrowstar knows that. He chose me because he thought I could deal with difficulty. And she was determined to prove him right.

Thornblaze glared at Sparrowstar, how dare he revoke his place for a new warrior? "I hope you serve well, Cloudfall." He could barely get the words out.
(I thought it was the deputy's choice to retire!? Isn't the Clan leader not allowed to force someone to retire? Oh wait... I forgot the code is different.)

Sparrowstar jumped down and mewed, "That's the end of the meeting." He went to Cloudfall, "This morning you passed your test. Many cats find it hard to speak clearly to their leader. I know you will do well, I can help you at any point, don't forget that."

Cloudfall dipped her head. "Thank you," she told him gratefully. "This was completely unexpected, but I'm determined to do my best. "
