Sparrowstar went out his den and leapt up on the highrock. "Meadowsong! Come forward!"

Sparrowstar sank his claws into the highrock and hissed. “You are still viewed as an APPRENTICE, watch your tone. I will be doing so anyway, and you will be home. Blackpine can choose to join us or not!”

Meadowsong flexed her claws, but stayed rooted to the ground. The last thing she wanted to do was tear Blackpine from his clan. "Fine then." She stalked to the back of camp and was about to sit down hard, when she thought of her kits. She sat down carefully.
 
Blackpine padded restlessly into the forest, but he didn’t feel like hunting. A mass of thoughts were festering in his mind like a raging thunderstorm. He knew that tonight would feel not like a gathering, but a courtroom. Both he and Meadowsong would be tried for what they had done, but he would never regret it. Oh Meadowsong, how he loved and missed her; words could not describe. His pawsteps hardened with resolve, he knew what to do, what choice to make, and what path to take, doubt plagued him no more.
