Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

A spot of tea sounds perfect! I think I'll put the kettle on! My gang has finally settled for the night. While they were out free this afternoon I managed to clean out their coop, build a ladder out of branches, and build a chicken tree (basically just screwed an upright 2x4 to a large stump that has been in the pen for a year & added a few cross shorter 2x4's for perches, and a platform on the top of the stump for them to jump from. They didn't evsn see any of it today because they came in just in time to go straight into the coop. Well hopefully they'll enjoy it tomorrow!

Good work! Did you get the bark off? Asking because I once used a branch as perch, which turned out to be a perfect hiding place for red mites. Freshly cut there is no problem but when the branch dries there will be room for many red mites and eggs under the bark,

I would like to give my sympathy, but I honestly don’t understand what you mean to say with this.
I work with young doctors. They make the smallest problems into something major. They get upset and cause everyone to get upset over trivial matters.

The issues statement is just me playing with words. When I was younger people used to subscribe to paper magazines, get an issue every month. If you didn't want it anymore you would cancel your subscription.

When people have problems they're referred to as issues. That was the play on words I was using, issues/problems versus issues/magazines.

I don't always consider that some people here didn't learn English as their primary language and might not have heard slang or idiomatic expressions that I am familiar with. If that describes you, take it as a compliment that your English is very good.

Capisce? 😎😎😎

Yes! When I get a chance I'll have to post a picture of one of the branches - under the bark there is a wild pattern of little grooves from some sort of bug that was living under the bark.

Yes! Thanks for the explanation and the huge compliment. My avatar name says it all.
Started to learn English when I was 12. Was not very good in it and certainly couldn’t write it properly for many years.
These last years being active on BYC helped me enormously. Autocorrect and Translate do the rest. Still not perfect but I hope good enough not to get annoyed.

PS My avatar name has a double meaning. I have Dutch and I am Dutch. Sort of double Dutch 🤣.
