Lovely flat top on that cake - I guess the insulated band around the outside worked as advertised! Let's hope it tastes as good as it looks when you come to eat it :)
I thought buying the insulator band that you linked to would be eaiser than messing around with string and paper. Thanks for the link btw.
Nobody will care what it tastes like after the first slice.:D

So... You're going to get legless on fruit cake? lol

Lovely cake, btw.
I won't hold the fruit cake entirely responsible for the likely state of inebriation. Eldests husband and I have turned out an entire Christmas dinner seeing double and difficulty standing upright. Very good the dinner was to.
I rarely drink throughout the year.
I expect he and I will giggle our way through the day this year. We both have set tasks and contributions to ease the cooking load for the eldest who does most of the cooking usually. My tasks are cake, cauliflower cheese, cheesecake, nut roast and this for boxing day.

The last time I made the above it turned out very yummy.

The rest of my flock are partaking of the cornus this morning, though most of the ripe fruits are still higher up the tree than they can reach (and most branches are far too flimsy to bear their weight so that's not a realistic option; it's also pretty dense)
Why not pick the fruits for them. And with Xmas you definitely should soak the berries in Whisky before you give them as a treat. :lau

Dry, grey and chilly. Everyone got out for around an hour then hovered around the coop for half an hour while I cleaned up and laid breakfast out.
I went around the plots where the chickens tend to forage lifting bits of timber and a few tiles exposing the bugs underneath. Mow got what was going on quickly but Tull and Sylph were too busy tearing around. POW or not, they're still very pulletish.

Rahab knows what is underneath the bucket feeder. She stands next to it, stares at me, and starts to chatter..."Move the block, I want a cricket!"
:gig

My dh has shingles...

I sent photos to his doctor, who diagnosed and prescribed an anti-viral medicine, all done online though an app.
:th
I did some research about what might have triggered dh's shingles, and discovered some published studies strongly suggesting that the amino acid Lysine is an inhibitor of the virus, very interesting!
:pop
And I thought of Shad and others here who've had issues. FYI: Lysine is found in meat, and EGGS!
:yesss:
Now that the pullets have started laying we can eat eggs again. It might help, couldn't hurt.

How about some pre- tax?

Just don’t know how it tastes.

🥲 I sure hope you were in time with the medication.
