He sleeps on the right end of the higher bar. It looks he had some diarrhea get caught in his tail feathers and just hardened up. I work thur through sat, so i don't get to spend much time with the birds on those days. I did notice he was in the middle of the roost bar when i got home from work last night, which struck me as unusual. He went to bed early tonight and his crop was pretty empty. I tried to feed him a scrambled egg when he was inside, but he only ate a small amount. All i can hope is that he just needs a bit more time to recover. The birds all eat the same food and the 3 hens are just fine.

What is the feed?

I feed my birds scratch & peck organic feed, plus whatever table scraps we end up with. We only eat organic stuff, so our birds eat better than a lot of ppl.

Have you got a label showing the nutritional analysis of the scratch & peck?

@BDutch : I was too quick on this. GMO are not forbidden by European rules in food, but strictly regulated . I am in France and I in my country it is almost impossible to find human food that contains GMO soy now, or corn. However it is still frequent in animal food and unfortunately not always clearly labeled.
I'm very limited on scientific notions so I'm unsure if GMO eaten by an hen really get to the egg, like a chemical substance would. I'm just not confortable with it.
Here standard layer feed cost around 10 euros for 25 kilos, whereas organic cost between 23 to 50 euros for that amount. We pay 28 euros, so that's pretty much the same as you. However it only has 16% protein , whereas conventional layer feed usually has 18%.
I'm letting you pay tax on this really off subject topic .

I was just told I lost 3 birds to something

This is the hen I've mentioned a few times who I believe has cancer.
A few days ago she staggered out of the coop (the others were already in the coop run) with her face covered in blood.
She was no problem to catch and when I had her on my lap to clean her up and see what the damage was I noticed she had lice, but not mites. You can just see a louse on her lower eyelid in one of the pictures.
While the wound bled a lot and was quite deep it looked like a single hard peck at the base of her comb.
I cleaned her up and disinfected the wound. I didn't have the Permethrin spray with me. The next day I sprayed under her wings and the back of her neck and applied some around her eyes and ears with a cotton bud soaked in the liquid from the spray.
The lice are gone and her comb has healed up.
What I've noticed is that the lice seem to move in when a hen is sick. I don't think it's the lice making them sick, although they are very irritating. I think it's a sign of not being well enough to clean themselves properly.

I'm quite pleased with myself. Despite all the stress and problems in moving I've only missed one day at the allotments and that was Monday. They have had less time out; about an hour and some most days but I've made sure they've had food enough in case I didn't make it.
Anyway, where was I? Oh are sex, mainly chicken sex. Here's some.

I lost 3 birds to the neighbors dog, One bird was in the yard hunkered down .. I found he brought her in the coop first I set her on a table she wobbled almost off it. Picked her up again, set her on the floor .. She knows me so did not fright or scare from me.
I will kill the damn owner if I could.
