Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Cold this afternoon and evening, 5C at the allotments when I left. Still muddy but drying up slowly.

Here we
Awww come on. It's been a hard day.:p
sorry, couldn’t resist. I added a few smileys to make it more acceptable.

Here the weather wasn't nice either. Lots of mist and no sun whole day. I hate this time of the year. It makes me feel sad.
I really need a little laugh now and then to pull me through the december month. Also booked a week to the Algarve after Xmass to charge my battery.
Sorry about that too if that makes you jealous.:duc

Tax: A poor photo of my two black Dutch in the dead leaves . It expresses my feelings quite well.

Getting a couple that just won't throw in the towel makes life difficult all round.
That's about the only time I'll kill and eat a rooster who wasn't on the potential food list. I don't care much if they get on with me but left to nature one would get killed eventually.
I honestly believe they hate each other. Fortunately we can work around it. They are both patriarchs and handsome boys but left to their own doings one or both would be dead.

Snain as we call it is falling water x snow took photos from inside the new coop.

I’ve always said it was slushing when it’s coming down in that rain/snow mix.

We got a little snow here too! First time for the newbies. I’ve been getting back into fermenting feed, if nothing else because they enjoy it, but also because of the health benefits. They came out to eat it but most everyone went back into the coop fairly quickly to enjoy dry straw and sunshine.

Poor Peanut is not quite as naked as before but looks horribly ragged still. She was very happy to sit in the sun and soak up some warmth. She’s over by the chicken door in the picture. My ISA Browns have yet to molt, though Fuzzy has finally started. I’m worried they’re going to freeze to death if they don’t get started soon. They’re the only two still laying at this point, and I tell them they can stop anytime now.
