Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I'm still doing put one foot forward and count, put the other foot forward and count. :D
Eldest and youngest both have watches that do all that and send it to their phones I think.
I'm not technophobic. It's just smart phones have a way to go yet before I'll find them an asset rather than an irritation.
I see a lot of mobile phone use because I live in and travel through the city daily. I find it a bit concerning and in some cases rather sad. Some evenings I get off the bus on the edge of the city and walk into the centre, often along the side of the docks which these days is populated by pubs/bars and takeaway food. I can't count the times I've glanced through one these bar windows and seen a couple sitting opposite each other using their mobile phones. What's all that about?
My watch can send it to my phone but I don't have it connected. It's open source as well.

My phone is pretty much just used as a camera. You can find a phone similar to mine in the sub $200 range used. Depending on the model and stuff like that. But it's still a irritation if you don't want the risk of finding your new addiction on it.

People walking across the street texting without looking to see if they're going to get smashed by a truck is even worse.

Oh, and @Shadrach :
Can I join the "rooster club" now? Does this creature count as a rooster?

(Don't forget, that's Cypriano, Little Rooster. I'm Big Rooster).

But if I were of dating age, perhaps I would think that's normal?
I think you hit the nail. Young people chat more on phones than they do in person.
Both European Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) and Beech (Fagus sylvatica) retain leaves over winter in the uk & I would expect the same to be true in similar conditions elsewhere
We have both in front of our house. There are a few differences. The Hornbeam hedge has smaller leaves. When it freezes hard the leaves fall off more easily. The Hornbeam starts to sprout earlier. The Beech is rather late.

A Wisteria is growing in the hedge. And blossomed above it in august-september last year.

I never see most of my friends in person because they're in California. So I text them.

Not too bad. Only the garbage containers that were already on the street were blown over. They pick them up tomorrow morning. Normally we put it on the street in the evening. Now I have to get up early.

At the coast in the North of NL its worse. The people there are warned not to drive/bike

I've watched a garbage can roll down a hill before. In California. It was a sight to behold.
