Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Two and a half hours. Dry with sunny spells.
Last of the onions.

I've had 32 courgettes so far from these plants and they're still coming.

This plant rushed out of the ground over the last month. Apparently it's great for bees and has some medicinal properties.I'm going to transplant it. It's bi annual I believe.

I have a non-rooster sourcing question!

I can't really tell from this photo - could this be borage (Borago officinalis)? Because if so, my chickens adore it. They've loved it almost to death, in fact. Also the bees, of course - bumblebees and some honey bees (we have fewer honey bees this summer.)

As borage grows, it gets incredibly floppy under its own weight, sprawling everywhere, but it's lovely and will come back in following years.

Looks like viper's bugloss (Echium vulgare), so related to borage. The bristly hairs can be a bugger if you're collecting seed without gloves.
