Well, lucky me, Fabio's insecurity is not one of Doc's traits. He has never shown the slightest inkling of wanting to have a go at me.

The way I described him in the Cafe is, he's an awful lot like Fabio but without the assholery.
How old was Fabio when he died? Given we joined BYC close together and went to the Cafe at about the same time, almost seven years ago would you believe, he must have been around seven years old (?)

I'm about to introduce a cockerel very kindly donated by Perris who it seems I have also known here for ages, to Mow and Sylph. I'm hoping he'll be a worthy successor to Henry who died this year.

I don't know about the auto door yet. It was expensive (£150.00) and pushed the coop price up to roughly £450,00. I'll be sure to point this out when Glais gets here. :p
I bought a simple auto pop door with a light sensor (not adjustable , not on time). It works great for a humble €35.
There are similar auto pop doors that work on time too.

That's nearly the exact one I bought to try and set it up with Home Assistant (remote control). I don't think my power supply is enough for it though. It always gets stuck. Maybe mine is a dud.

Mine works on batteries. The same for about 6 months now. Never got stuck.
I have a small overhang above the door. It only gets wet with rain + west wind.

Mine has had the battery removed and some circuit boards jammed in there. Probably my fault.

I didn't want to have the default thing it came with since the door is already in a pretty dark spot. I still have the door sitting around waiting for me to try and get it functioning again.

My automatic door is a bit complex, I guess, but very predictable: I get up, pull a sweatshirt over my nightgown, grind the coffee and get it brewing, wobble outside to the run door, automatically forgetting to get the key lanyard for the padlock, going back to get the lanyard, THEN unlocking the run door, and get run over by five pullets determined to get out and do... what, exactly?
