RIP Uppsala. She was absolutely fine this morning - as it happens I got a photo of her dustbathing while I was stalking the cockerels to get photos of them for the current compo - and she just now had a seizure at tea, and died within a minute in my arms. 3 years 4 months old.

This made me laugh so hard, I've seen that stare before. This is exactly my relationship with my rooster, I always describe it as a "tenuous truce" but I love the conscious harmony description. I too have certain "unauthorized footwear" that will also not foster harmony...“Conscious harmony” is one of the ways I would describe successful daily interaction with my rooster. As in those who aren’t conscious of him, may get unharmonious results, depending on proximity and whether or not they have on floppy, hot pink pajama pants, which apparently do NOT foster harmony, understandably so:
