Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

It doesn't sound like that is going to debunk the story of what has happened and continues to happen after a war through the entirety of human history.
No but it is not a given that because Neanderthals aren’t here and we are that we are responsible for their demise. It’s just as probable that Neanderthal males were “marrying” homo sapien females and that Neanderthals were the physically stronger species but not the most adaptable.

Mail drone!?

I looked it up and realize I'm late to the game in realizing mail drones fly in 11-ish countries, particularly for deliveries to remote places like Orkney. Welcome me to the future, I guess 🙃
Yeah it delivers to the two islands closest to this bit of the (Orkney) mainland. I often wonder how much human input goes into flying it and whether there's someone sat in the sorting office a quarter mile away, watching and judging me for how much time I spend just sat watching the chickens and not actually doing anything.

I didn't think we were talking about our role or otherwise in the demise (/absorption) of the Neanderthals (/ some of their DNA), but about the role of altruism and empathy versus violence in survival, reproduction and ecological success. Anyway, it's all irrelevant to Shad's home thread and chickens so I think we need to pay taxes and shut up about it now.

Oh yeah I didn’t get on that train—I just wanted to make a quip about big scary Neanderthal women being more than a scrawny homo sapien man could handle. I did enjoy reading the empathy discussion but having had a vegan in the family for almost two decades that subject isn’t one I wade into anymore.

Definitely agree it’s time to pay my taxes and shut up lol. This is not a chicken but it is scientific proof that whoever made this mark has no empathy for me or my stuff:

The girls were riveted!
Lots of mine were fascinated at first - they won't have seen a broody hen before - but now they're just like yeah whatever, don't mind her  She's calmed down a lot in the last few days too. She was way angrier and noisier when she started!
