Does this guy's tail feathers make him a cockerel? I am new to BYC... I'm also curious about the little tufts on his face. He/she is estimated to be about 14 weeks old, and I believe he is mixed breed (Americauna and not sure what else)
Can I get maybe one more confirmation? The sad thing is, this the the THRID rooster in my mixed flock of 11 "hens." I know that one can't have 3 roosters in a flock that size.
You have better luck than I do! I re-homed three RIR roos yesterday who came out of a group of four 'hens'. Your guy looks like a white version of the fourth S/R roo, the one I'm keeping. He likes it when I pick him up and pet his beard.
I may be the odd one out, but I think it is a pullet and an easter egger, white is not a common color for EE cockerels. I don't think I have ever seen one pure white. If they have white at all they will have red markings by the wings.
I'm thinking pullet. A cockerel at that age should have a more developed comb and at least starting some sex feathering. The tufts come from the Ameraucana heritage and she'll (if I'm right) should lay blue or green eggs for you.
That looks like an EE pullet. My Sussex pullets are about the same age and molted some of their tail feathers. The ones left made them look like they had roo tails.
