Shaking Chick *updated*

Hey all,
Having a terrible time with this batch of chicks. I have a 3 day old cornish x that has a terrible head shake and an unwillingness to move. It seems Neurological to me and darkness seems to help. The other 13 chicks seem to be doing great.

This one showed no interest in eating or drinking when I picked it up tonight and it was fine this morning.

I have been reading some posts about AE and a few other thing. I was wondering at what age have you all experianced AE?

Also is there anything else it could be? I am really hoping it is not AE.

This is the one I brought back from death's door because he got really chilled when he was a day old. Could that be the issue?

It could be something as simple as it not drinking properly...why not separate and baby it for a day ensuring it gets sufficient drink and feed... you can also give it some live culture non-flavored yogurt.

I can try that one I get home from school.. Running a working farm (small one) and going to college don't mix terribly well. :|

So it has progressed..
The chick is now fully inverted it's head. To the left, I don't know if which side matters. The poor thing looks kind funny and very miserable.

There is no more shaking, just the head tilted all the way around so it is upside down.

Any ideas?

In case it doesn't eat or drink is there anyway to stomach tube a chicken, like I do with kittens or lambs when they are having a rough time?

get the polyvisol Enfamil formulation and give three drops in beak once a day (make sure it swallows it itself...since it is so small you may have to do this one drop at a time) for a week then taper off the next. Also p r ic k open a human vit E gel tab and give a beak ful of that (bout a third of the contents) also daily for a week.
