My young chicken, about 5 weeks old frequently shakes her head. She’s been doing it for a couple weeks now and seems otherwise healthy. It’s almost like she has a tik? I know this is not the cause. Does anyone have any ideas??

I have a video, but can’t seem to list it. Here’s a photo of her, cause they’re so cute. she’s the black one

Mine do that when they get food stuck on their beak or in their nostrils. Do ykj have something in their brooder they can rub their beaks on? I keep bricks around the run and wood in the brooder. I don't know if the chicks use it but its there if they need to wipe their nose

She seems to wipe her face. At least the others do… maybe she’s not so bright 😂

I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye on her. If it gets worse, then maybe something is really going on. But could be nothing. I've had a couple of birds with mystery neurological tic's, as long as she can eat and drink normally, she'll likely be fine. Had a cockerel with a very pronounced head shake, much, MUCH more pronounced than your chick is doing, he started at about 6 months and did it intermittently for years. He's 7 years old now and I haven't seen him do it for about the last year and a half. Never knew what caused it, no idea why it seems to have stopped. He's been a great roo despite it.
