Hi,

I think she's ill - I realise she looks ok on the vids but she's subdued and away from the flock, off lay and acting very odd.

She extends her neck and shakes her head seemingly without control. Not caught very well on the vid, but it's usually a lot more prolonged.

She also gets these ticks, and shudders her head as on this vid:

I watched her stoop to feed, and a load of liquid fell out of her mouth - it looked like she was being sick.

Does anyone know what's wrong with her?

In the first video she is just trying to swallow her food. Some are piggies and eat so fast that it gets stuck going down. She could have sour crop if she spit up her food while leaning over. They usually work thru it and go off feed for awhile. Kind of like us when we have stomach flu..
And the 2nd video she has a twitch that I have seen in several chickens. Sometimes tiny mites on their face and other times it is nothing. Dust her body with Sevin garden dust and be careful not to get in her eyes.

She does appear slow and hunched up a bit while walking. You could give her a baby aspirin for pain and swelling and see if she quits with the neck extending... good luck..

Thanks to both of you, will try the aspirin then report back, and will also have a look at your thread 2greenboyz

Please look at my post https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...excessive-thirst-update-shes-doing-better-now

mine had exact same symptoms and is still recovering, but now looks and acts much better. Did you feel her crop esp when she beds down at night? Have you wormed her? Does she seem to drink a lot, standing by the waterer more than the others?

Very similar to the symptoms you describe it your thread, although I can't say I've noticed any increase in drinking at all.

Not wormed them for months - would you recommend it?
