I've been getting 3 eggs a day consistently for a few weeks from my 8 pullets. Today I collected 4 eggs. Yay! They were all in the same nest. Silly chickens! I would love to have a camera in the coop to see how that played out!

Mine are that way, too. They have favorite nesting boxes - and it's not always the same box. Sometimes I'll go out there and three hens are occupying a single box all at once while 5 other boxes sit empty. Who can decipher the chicken brain? Not me!

Now I'm wondering if they aren't taking turns, just crowding all in!

Lol, my girls eschew our lovely nest boxes in favor of a straw-filled cat carrier that we use to transport birds! Not just that, but they fight over it, singing the egg song at each other in very loud, disagreeable tone.

And as if that wasn't enough, our nine cats like to sleep in the carrier-- on top of the eggs! I swear, we're going to have the only feline-incubated chicks in the world!

I think they just like group activities
