Shaming my rooster!

I THINK they have plenty of room. I have a 12' camper that has been converted into a chicken coop. Plus they free range all day on approx. 2 acres of land. Like my name says, I just think I have a "flockanuts"!!!

12' by what? About 6'? Is that actual floor space? If so...

They should have 4 square feet each of floor space.

12'X6'=72 square feet/4 square feet per bird=18 chicken capacity.

They should also have 10 square feet of fenced run area...

10'X18'=180 square feet/10 square feet per bird=18 chicken capacity.

If they are crowded you will have a lot of stressed and fighting chickens and eventually they will more than likely get sick and die.

Then they s.hould have plenty of room, there are 12 girls and 1 roo. And, like I said, they free range all day

I live on 25 acres on top of a mountain in West Virginia so I wouldn't necessarily say I don't have predator problems.  I just think (so far!!) that I've been very lucky that my worst predators have been my 4-legged children....

Me too. My dogs and neighborhood dogs are my only predators so far.

By the evidence left in a pile underneath the apple tree in my front yard, I had at least ONE bear in my yard night before last.  Thank God it didn't go in my back yard!!!!!

If you do have trouble with bears, there is a post on here where somebody "bear-proofed" their coop/run with those nail strips that are used to lay carpet. The person nailed them up so the bear would get his paws cut if he tried to break into the coop/run.
