Share your Compost Container pics!

when I built my first compost bin after going to a compost class I used top soil because it was part of the formula. 7in of leaves, or brown, 3in of green, grass clippings, and 1in of dirt. after that you can use your own compost for the dirt part.
This new pile I have was an old compost pile and all I did was put grass clippings on it and turn everything with a rototiller. this winter I've put pumpkins, that the deer like to eat, pine shavings and droppings from the chicken coop, and letting it sit till spring when I can get into it with the rototiller.

Question for you all, isnt there a chance that kitchen scraps will attract bears or dogs (or any other animal that will want to get a closer sniff)? How do you minimize this from happening?
the chicken poop sure attracts our dogs.

I do compost with red worms. I just use extra large rubber maid-like containers. Before I used worms I used a 200 gallon barrel I bought used on craigslist and then spun on a metal pole. You can kind of see it in the picture below -- the blue thing. I put chicken poo, yard waste and clippings, eggs shells veggies, cardboard and pine bedding, etc. in it, no meat or dog waste. I only let it get half full or it was too heavy to spin.

I just started the red worms but I am really liking that more. You just have to be a little more aware of your PH put that's fairly easy. I plan on feeding the worms to my chickens and the fish I am about to start farming.

Yeah, weight IS an issue with composting bins. I hope others can share their ideas. (Nice coop, too!!)

I suppose with a smaller container maybe but one as large as mine I would not be able to physically do that. It is large and gets heavy very fast. You would be better off with something you could just turn with a shovel perhaps.

I just recently constructed a compost bin. I was just dumping it in a pile behind my shed but something would always eat it. I used 2 pallets and an old rusted up welded wire foldable dog crate and the back side of my shed. I just zip tied the pallets and dog crate together and use the dog crate as the door. Since I just started it I haven't added too much to it yet, just some kitchen greens and egg shells.
