Was that the foot that got discolored after hatch? Did the vet say what had happened to it?

Yes and they have no idea there best guess was it broke it in the incubator which was my guess but they said thats just a guess

Once I gave Shadow a friend he wanted nothing to do with me even though he had previously loved me and wanted to spend every second with me. Once he was with all the chicks, he runs away with the rest of them. Enjoy his love while it lasts.

We added 7 more today. We now have 13. Different ages but they’ll be the same size when we’re done with the coop.

Well its official 630am wake up(its 7am now) go into bathroom closed door checked on brooder by the door .... cant see snow anywhere but i hear peeping chirps was going to think all is well and they burrowed into the towel which has happened once started to walk away and i hear it closer to the wall and away from the brooder i froze ... snow finally realized what i knew for 2 days ... that they can fly out of the brooder which i knew but they didn't. Welp i calmed myself cuz i realized i trained them to answer my call so i made my call and got the lil 3 yells back then i made my come here noise and they ran out from under the bottom of the cabinets so tiny all running at my like mom!!! That was scary its colder on this floor and slippery!! Then cuddles me and happy chirps then water incase they haven't had any in a while then fresh food(couse u poop when i take a pic)

I put the lid on my brooder 4 or 5 days ago when I saw them start to get off the ground. Better safe than sorry. The flying will get worse. Last hatch, my tiny runt was flying thru my house like a little sparrow while I chased him like a lunatic, I didn’t realize how easy it is for the tiny ones to stay in the air.

Yep, I had a net over the brooder after 10 days because they were already flying. One escaped at about 3 weeks old and managed to fly a good 5 metres across the flat at almost ceiling height. Buttons quails can really go!
