I'm not sure what a cricket noise would be, I think he does? Like a trilling kind of sound. Here's some clips of how he chats.
I've read that some of the commercial farms in my country keep Estonian quail (which I haven't heard anything about in the forums), but not specifically this brand, which is the largest supplier. They unfortunately have no information online about their quail.

Male coturnix. That loud sound is his crow! I need to learn more about Estonian quail.

I think it’s golden Manchurian. Color like Italian speckled, but neither boys nor girls have black speckles on the breast. And the boys have redder heads.

I looked up Estonian, it is a combination of different colors of Coturnix it seems.

Yours looks like an English white Coturnix.
