I have just been reading a thread about someone who is planning to build their own home. They are asking for advice on suitability of materials etc. It occurs to me that there are loads of people out there who have designed and built some brilliant projects from hen houses to their own houses. I was wondering if any of you clever folk would share the information with us less imaginative folk. I am particularly interested in the use of recycled materials. At some point, we would like to build a log cabin type building, to be used as a home. It does not have to be literally a log cabin, perhaps some sort of prefabricated building, a wooden structure or such like. I have for example, on some US websites, seen the most fantastic extensions and porches added to trailer homes. Does anyone out there have experience of these self builds?
