I can TOTALLY hook a sister up, I can send you the links for the form who to send it to and get you in touch with Janet, our local inspector, it's free, she makes an appointment and comes to you. It has to be atleast 50 degrees out. She tests all of them I guess. Your flock would take longer than mine, but she made it seem as if she can do weekends if necessary.

AWESOME!!!

on another note Jen Is to be banished from this hatching thread if she shows up bragging about sniping pure lav test eggs from under me! bought out the next 2 weeks worth! BAD Jen BAD... http://www.pic4ever.com/images/tantrumsmiley.gif

Now I'd like to say that's a shark ban-able offense... but it's actually what MADE her a shark.. LOL

Sooo think I'll be adding some salmon favorelles... those are sweeeeeet ... ((JK! Don't kill me!!))

Here's an interesting tidbit...

My mutts are mixed with BR hens and a solid white roo so Blessed... pay attention...

"Sex-Link Color
: A sex-linked chicken is one who's gender can be easily determined at hatching due to males and females being different colors. Without any genetic mutations, we can expect the following to be true:

Barred hen + non-barred rooster = Barred males and Non-Barred females
Gold hen + silver rooster = Silver males and Gold females
Barred rock hen + Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire Red rooster = Black with white spot on head male and solid black female (this is a Black Sex Link or Black Star)"

So, this means that I have 3 roos and 3 hens. 3 are barred, 3 are solid. Blessed, your barred will be roos, your solids will be pullets.

Cool!!! This is so confusing to me! But I'm gonna write it down and keep it in mind. I've been reading y'all talking about feather sexing. The only thing I know is pointed hackles are males. But it takes a while to see that. What are primary feathers y'all are talking about and how do you do it so early?

Since my budget is so limited I wasn't even going to mess with the Faverolles this year I had decided. Then I saw this and thought well... we'll see what they go for, if they get too rich for my blood.

The eggs will get to my house Friday, but they are saying we likely won't get home to Saturday. My other chicks will be in lockdown/hatch on Sunday. So I couldn't put them in til Monday at the earliest. Should I try it? Time's almost up and I've got itchy fingers wanting to bid.
