Sorry about the chick blessed
I had one of mine born evicerated earlier this hatch and had to cull. It's aweful but necessary. If it is not possible for you to give total care to the chick and then potentially chicken, then you have to thing about the long term consequences too. I am also having a bit of an ethical dilema in regards to TSC and the chicks. The reason they're willing to give me them cheap is because they're getting "too big and too old". I want to take them. I want to find them homes, or give them a place to live and proper food and care. I struggle with my lack of room, my neighbors, the need for more land (more money) I want to buy them. But at what risk to my flock if they make too much noise, or the village decides I have too many. What then? I feel so bad for those chicks. I walked away today, but not sure I can on Thursday. I dont do meat chickens, I eat chicken, but struggle with the idea of raising them to give away or sell to be slaughtered... what should I do? They got MORE they hadn't even sold what they had... now their packed in a brooder... I am so ticked at TSC I don't really have words for it. Chick days where they aren't pre-ordered are a seriously bad idea. People buy them on impulse. One of the guys even told me a woman came back in and said all 6 bantams she bought died... now you CANT tell me they were all diseased and fell over. She just probably had NO idea how to care for them... or they were easter pets and the kids squeezed them... who knows... I am struggling with this... I know I can't save the world, but this literally has me in tears.
Sorry about the chick blessed
