All chickies appear to be fine. My layers ran down their ramp just like always - too dark to check the leghorn combs to see if the vaseline worked, but they all seemed peppy and hungry. And I heard an egg song as I was leaving.

My MF d'uccles were all prancing around when I turned the light on, not huddled.. The only concession to the -10F temp was that in my back coop the older pullets put aside the clique mentality and switched over to the other roost with the younger pullets and the big fat floofball (cochin X) roo. I have a red nightlight in there so they could see to do that (not a heat lamp, just a 7W nightlight- that coop gets dark too early and they get caught off roost.). So all is well so far in freezytown, NY.
