Well, here are the pics of the new coop, we are taking copies of them up to the amish guy tomorrow, so I had to take pics, even though it's not finished yet. It's 5x8, split down the middle to make 2 seperate coop areas. I will have a total of 3 of these coops, plus the big coop.

THEY are AWESOME! How much did the materials cost?

Rough guesstement, around $400, and there are 2 windows that go in the back wall that aren't installed yet. Of course, we get alot of the wood materials from the amish, and because dh is such a good customer there, they give him a good deal on it. That price also does not include the shingles for the roof, haven't got them yet, as we will be putting the shingles on all 3 coops at the same time when they are done.

Yup, great size for that! and I picked up the material for the runs, (there's a pop door on each end), just haven't gotten to them yet. Been too busy with the hatching babies. Wheels would be totally awsome

and I did consider them, but there's just too many trees, stumps, holes ect back where it is located.

I think the ones without are pullets. But I could be wrong.

Someone else with more knowledge?

Bared rocks have a very distinct round spot on the head as pullets if the spot is blotchy all over the head it's a male. Females on Barred Rocks also have a dark black wash down the forn of their legs.

I need to quit my job so I can keep up with this thread

Carrie: The coop turned out awesome!!

The boys are picking up and placing my new amish coop tomorrow. You will not BELIEVE this thing for 300 bucks! The lumber alone couldn't ahve been touched for that! The fence will be finished tomorrow. I am too excited. The siding guy has been here. I'll post before and afters. I am finally proud this is my house!

Jen: I am so sorry

My first cull was this year too. I felt like a complete backsidehole like this big giant picking on a poor defenseless baby bird. Think about how much better off she is though. Our society often teaches us to hang on to people/pets that may be better off otherwise... it's ok to feel bad, but you did that chick a great service in being strong enough to address it.

Hmmm Tennessee... I could do that. I do like a good southern breakfast if someone promises to make slow cooked grits.

I should be doing homework...
