While I surely can't imagine the responibilities of working the ward, I have put in some time there myself. My oldest was born almost 8 weeks early. She spent 28 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. Put many a mile on the big wood rocking chairs they had there. Weighing in at 4 pounds she looked huge compared to some of the babies there. This was almost 21 years ago, I don't remember a high number of withdrawel babies then, but some had no visitors, we got there everyday. Kate was kind of a problem eater, I for some reason could get her to take a bottle better than anyone else. I always said she wasn't the first critter I had to help figure out where lunch was. Kate has grown into a beautiful young lady, played multiple sports in high school, with no lasting effects from her diminutive start. So keep up the good work, you have the opportunity to directly affect so many lives.

HERE here!! I will second that one all the way to the bank! Those $$ bird are beautious...but I too have more eggs than one could shake a tail feather at and I can still go to the bank because I have $$ left ( I would not if I bought those eggs) Not to mention the heart meds I would have to take to stay upright during incubation!!

So we'll keep our Nava at the top of the shark pile. Lets put old whats-his-face on the top of another pile!

7 BLRW eggs I got from BishopsChickens- all were clear. I was a little disappointed in these eggs. They were mostly odd-shaped. Long and pointy. I'm not surprised they didn't develop. I was always taught not to incubate odd-shaped eggs, they don't do well. And I certainly would never sell them for hatching. Oh well, they weren't that expensive. I do have 6 from Kinder Korner went into lockdown today. Only 2 look really good, the others are just wishfull thinking.

long and pointy eggs in my experience never hatch. My heart sinks when I see them.

I'm glad your daughter grew into a beautiful young lady. 21 years ago we were not saving any 1 pound babies, but now we save most of them. I'm sure you can imagine the responsibilities, since you were there so much. In NY, we had maybe one withrawel baby a year. Here in spring hill florida over 50% of our unit is withdrawel. It's a problem here and I really never signed up to work with these babies. I just don't do well with continuous crying.

So far, day 10, I have 7 moving large JG's in the bator. They are all from Kathyinmo. I had 8 eggs from someone else, and not one of them was fertile! I am just trying to have some splash, it seems that it's more difficult for me to get eggs that are all splash/blue. I hope I do well with Kathy's.

My neice is 21 and was 1lb 12oz when she was born(to a no good drug addict alchoholic mother). She spent forever in the NICU and has had so many surgeries it's not funny, even facial reconstruction for her FAS

. Poor kid. Anyway, I don't know how you do it Sem...my heart would break every day (coupled with the rage that people could do this to their kid

Congrats Phage!! Which breeder are the chicks from?

Hoppy and BigBoy.

Hoppy's eggs are always great.

Bigboy could not get a $10 or $12 bid on some of his eggs as far as I remember. I was shocked.
I contacted hm after the first auction. He is super nice.
His birds are certainly pretty and of 16 eggs he sent 10 I think made it to lockdown and are frantically hatching, and nice vigorous chicks too.
Definitely worth a try without risking breaking the bank.
