You have to sex them by color. The males often have a white "bib" under their chins, it also has something to do with red feathers on their bums, but I havent figured that part out yet...

with all those eggs your incubating-you better update me with what you have so I can repost on first thread:-)

It's Ok I have 2. I have the quail alone in the one then after they hatch, I'll use that one as a hatcher for the chickens then deal with the ducks.

Ok I am catching up on some stuff

First of all anyone heard from Blessed?
Hope her DD is Ok. Last I heard she was getting a fever again

Also for those who went to CS how was Gretchen?

Had a great hatch with the crele polish. Will post a pic soon as I have a mo. Big healthy chicks except one that needed a hobbs splint.
Ended up with 3 healthy BLRW from Hoppy's last batch.
Also had a great hatch with the ebay silkie/polish. They are so cute!! I have more of them cooking.

The ebay polish eggs have not hatched at all!!! Started with 24, about half went to lockdown one pipped 24 hours ago but nothing since. I think that was my fault as the temp in the roll X was way too cold (95-6 ish).

I had a rooster (wheaten Maran) returned to me as he was too noisy and "scary for the 2 and 4 year olds" so we had him for 3 days while he was waiting to be rehomed. He got busy so it will be interesting to see if any of my own eggs are fertile!!!!!
He was a real sweetie and gorgeous, but in 2 days I already had "an inquiry" via the neighborhood watch about him. Oh well. Keep in mind here that we can hear noise from the horse park and Del Mar racetrack and each morning and hear all the feral/dumped cockerels down at the horse park. anyway don't want to upset the neighbors. Currently they are all really nice.

What do you do in DC? Goverment Grant? CDC? Report to the pentagon on your progress with mutant chickens? http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10809.gif

Maybe you can make a side trip to visit some of your new chickens friends?

Yea... I review research grants for the National Institutes of Health (wish they would give me a few more). I will be there again on the 9-11th June.
Talking of mutant chickens. I have had no luck with the double yolkers. Anyone got any or know of someone who does?

Wthchristi: if your DH has banned you from auctions does that mean you won't be bidding on the ameracunas?? I am semi banned too but as far as eggs go "don't ask don't tell" works for me, and I do sell the chicks fairly quickly.

Sem: glad to hear about the mule

Nat, Did miss something or is your duckling OK?

OK off to get some peafowl eggs (DH also does not know about

).

I pretty much roll my eyes at him, lol. I am taking a time out for a couple of weeks as the bator is full right now. I said a couple of weeks ago that I was going to stop for the year, did not, obviously. I will probably have one more small hatch after this. Will see.

I still have to decide on pips and peeps ameraucanas, her birds are gorgeous and she lives close, so minimal post office damage, hopefully.

I am back from the show/swap. awesome day- I sold out. thought there was going to be a war between two customers, one lady was inquiring, kind of shopping, the this guy thought she was too slow and said, too late, i'm buy all the all blrw and he did.
the only thing I came home with was hatching eggs of my own. even the showgirl sold (cheap but it's gone- last bird to go) sold her to a BYCer. it will be interesting to see her later, kind of a red barred???
came home with a white wyandotte for my project, 8 hatching eggs of more white wyandottes and a white silkie for my son. that white silkie is like night and day with the one I hatched out, they are the same age(4 weeks) and the new one is stunning! my other must be a splash, just doesn't look "clean" compared to the new one, like a dirty white- sizzle lines.
I met several BYCers. some i already knew and some not (wthchristi) I met keesmom with the cornation sussex.
had a great time, met some great people and bought what I came to buy! what a day!! now to get ready for the next swap- filling the incubator just one last time!!
hey, has anyone seen jeneric farms?

Congrats on selling out Hoppy....! Haven't heard from Jen for quite some time now...Pm'd her a couple times...and nothing...Haven't heard from blessed either....Praying both are doing well!

Hey Brindle, how was Texas Chickenstock?
